Elundini Local Municipality is an ANC-led, category B municipality. It has 32 members of the Council. There are 16 Ward Councilors and 16 PR (Proportional Representative). The Executive Committee is led by the Mayor and has 6 members including the Mayor, constituted by the Chairpersons of Standing Committees and 1 member of the opposition party – UDM. There are five standing committees playing an oversight role in each department and making recommendations to the Executive Committee.
