The Elundini Local Municipality; a category B Municipality incorporating Maclear, Ugie, Mt Fletcher and parts of Tsolo and Qumbu with its seat in Maclear invites applications from experienced, qualified and committed individuals for the following position:

 Assistant Manager – Public Participation

Total, all inclusive remuneration package R380 000 (per annum)

This is a five year fixed term contract of employment. The Elundini Municipality is a designated employer in terms of the Employment Equity Act.

 Requirements

• An appropriate degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in public administration or related field;
• Three to five years local government experience
• Good understanding of the Local Government : Municipal Systems Act
• Broader understanding of social and economic development
• Excellent inter personal skills
• Valid driver’s licence

 Duties/ Key performance areas

• Facilitate the formation and functioning of ward committees
• Facilitate and oversee the participation of communities in the affairs of the Elundini Municipality
• Planning public involvement processes during budget and IDP road shows and any other municipal and government led programmes
• Act as a public liaison officer responsible, inter alia, for the receipt and processing of community complaints and petitions
• Ensure that the Speaker’s Office is adequately resourced and in a position to discharge its responsibilities in terms of legislation and the municipality’s policies
• Facilitate the quarterly report back meetings of ward councilors to their respective communities on the performance of the municipality;
• Facilitate community based planning programmes
• Contribute to the preparation of the municipality’s annual report
• Contribute to the annual preparation of the Service Delivery and Budget implementation Plan.
